On Guard you Filthy beasts!
As we traverse further from the sun towards winter, nature’s in her Crone phase, it all becomes rather ‘a tissue, a tissue’. Everywhere I turn, someone is either showering me in their sneeze mist or coughing up cabbage sized phlegm balls. Inadvertently, liberally smearing their viral gunk across my personal landscape…it’s happening on trains, in shops and offices, and at my bloody gym!
Knowing why this is happening; because we’re over-crowded, over-intoxicated, treating our bodies like amusement arcades and stuck like insects in amber trying to keep maintain this perception of wealth; doesn’t make me feel any more tolerant!
As a ‘self-employed’, especially when I am doing voice over work, makes me less than gracious when sharing air space with the afflicted. All I can think about is how I can NOT shake hands, use the same equipment, open the door without touching anything. Being ill, racks up multi-dimensional costs; I can’t work so I don’t earn and I get an emotional downer too.
To date, the slightest whiff of impending or realised illness, from anyone including my flesh and blood, sees me barricading all the doors and sterilizing the life out of everything! But this year I don’t have to ‘fall down’ or offend anyone, I can banish these dirty critters from my space in a more natural, socially acceptable and very delicious way.
As a Witch, it’s important for me to celebrate Autumn in all its beauty, plus as a redhead its my perfect foil! It’s not a time for sickness!!!! I experience the seasons as Mother Nature being born (Spring), maturing and ripening with fruit(Summer), as a mother having born fruit (Autumn) and dying (Winter).
In a metaphysical sense, given that I’m not a farmer and physically reaping a harvest, this is my time to evaluate and recognise the work and seeds I planted back in Spring….Establish what worked for me and what needs improving…giving me food for cogitation in Winter.
In Pagan terms, the Goddess as Crone ruled autumnal harvest festivals, when the spirits of dead ancestors could visit their descendants and share in the harvest feast. The main festival being Samhain, Halloween or All Hallows Eve, where day and night stand hand in hand as equals. This is the Witches New Year….I want to be in prime condition for the party!
So what have marvel have I discovered? What am I shamelessly touting now? My oily defender, which I daily lather into my children’s feet, meticulously drop into my diffuser and add a drop to our hot chocolates, is called OnGuard; A concoction of Wild Orange Peel, Clove Bud, Cinnamon Leaf, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Leaf, and Rosemary Leaf/Flower, delivering a warm, spicy, camphoraceous, woody aroma. Basically, my house and my children and my breath smell of Christmas!
This blend is so amazing, some wee soul created a list of 52 ways to use it….told you last time we’re all a bit evangelical about these oils… http://southernrootshealing.weebly.com/uploads/9/1/3/4/9134785/52_uses_of_on_gaurd1.pdf
So as well as getting rid of unwanted germs, you can use it to clean and sterilise….this means I now carry a small vial around in my handbag and can subtly use it when I have to touch something ridden in bacteria….its inviting scent and soothing properties quickly defuse any offence my immediate cleansing may engender…..It doesn’t dry your hands out like a liquid hand sanitizer either…..so no ‘croney’ old hands this Autumn!
Contact me if you’d like a sample of this amber nectar…..
